I’d empower an environmental biologist on my staff to protect our surrounding wetlands. Wetlands act like a giant sponge holding flood waters back. It’s not the ultimate solution, but it will buy us time as the sea rises.

This seems so obvious I'm surprised we don't already have one. Biology is at the base of everything around us and all we are built on. What could possibly be the argument to make any decisions about our city without this input? Reply • Follow • 1/25/2015

We have to do something and soon. By now I think everyone realizes that sea levels are rising, but many feel paralyzed by fear and respond with inaction. It would be great if this biologist could also teach the public about practical and applicable things we can do to help our community directly, before Charleston is under water.
